Release: Symantec Enterprise Vault – Service Pack 3

Service Pack 3 for Enterprise Vault 8.0 has been released.

This release should be considered a recommended update for Enterprise Vault for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, FSA, Sharepoint & SMTP and Accelerators

 Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP3 provides the following new features:

  • Virtual Vault

 Added Support and Enhancements

  • New Domino 8.5 support
  • New Entourage support
  • SharePoint Archiving and Shortcut enhancements
  • Discovery Accelerator enhancements
  • FSA Reporting and FSA Utility enhancements
  • FIPS and FDCC Certification
  • EVSVR

How can Symantec Enterprise Vault customers access this release?

Fusion 3 – Adobe and Microsoft Office Applications Crashing When Opening Shared files from the Mac

It looks like this is a bug in Fusion 3. I’ve seen this exact issue on Fusion 3 with Windows 7 Ultimate. Here’s a VMware Community forum post with a temporary “work-around” until they release a fix for the bug.

The work-around is this, as verified from the Forum above. This worked for me in my tests, yet every so often I’m still having issues getting to some files as the path is still too long:
“A quick workaround, which works in my tests is to shorten the paths to your files in your “Shared Folders” drive mappings.”

Hopefully VMware will fix this issue soon!
